A Fun Football Feast

This time of year many of us are celebrating because football season is almost over, while the fans are holding on to these last games wanting to stretch out the season. Whatever your reason for celebrating, a Football Feast is fun and easy. The game fans can watch football and eat, while non-fans can have fun with activities and games in another room. If you have two televisions and a DVD player you can have a movie marathon too. Think of it as setting up "stations" for your company to have fun while eating and visiting. Be creative and this may become a new tradition in your household!



Here are some yummy treats to serve at your football feast:

Game Day Football Sub

Ingredients:
2 (16 oz. each) loaves frozen Italian bread
1/2 cup mayonnaise
3 tablespoons prepared mustard
2 teaspoons prepared horseradish (optional)
8 oz. thinly sliced cheddar cheese
8 oz. thinly sliced Fontina cheese
8 oz. thinly sliced salami
8 oz. thinly sliced turkey
8 oz. thinly sliced ham
Leaf lettuce
Sliced onions
Sliced tomatoes
Preparation:
Thaw frozen bread in refrigerator overnight or at room temperature. On a lightly floured board, knead loaves together; form into ball with one smooth side. Cover and let rest 15 minutes.
Spray Football Pan with vegetable pan spray. Place bread in pan, smooth side down; let raise1-1/2 to 2 hours or until doubled. Preheat oven to 350. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until browned. Cool 5 minutes; remove from pan and cool completely.
Split; spread with mayonnaise and mustard. Place cheese and meat in overlapping slices on bottom half of bread.
Add lettuce, tomatoes and onions and top half of bread; press lightly and wrap in plastic wrap or foil.
May be refrigerated up to 6 hours before serving.
To serve, slice in 1 to 1-1/2 in. slices.
Fast Football Franks
INGREDIENTS:
1 package Lil' Smokies
1 bottle bbq sauce
1 cup water
PREPARATION:
Put all ingredients into crockpot. Cook on high for 3 to 4 hours. Serve warm with toothpicks.
Tacklin' Turkey Joes

INGREDIENTS:
1 pound lean ground turkey
1-1 ½ teaspoons chili powder
⅓ cup Heinz Sweet Relish ®
⅓ cup Heinz Tomato Ketchup ®
12 ounces Heinz Homestyle Zesty Onion Gravy ®
6 sandwich buns

PREPARATION:
In large skillet, brown turkey, drain fat. Stir in chili powder then add gravy, ketchup and relish. Simmer uncovered for 5 minutes. Serve on buns. Makes 6 servings.
