Symposium on Fernley Opportunties for Families, Students and Educators


Fernley PTA Invites All Families and Staff of Fernley Schools (Early Childhood Through 12th Grade)To a Symposium on Fernley Opportunties for Families, Students and Educators
Where: Fernley High School Career Center (formerly the school library)
When: Thurs, Oct. 15 at 7pm

Presenters Will Answer Questions and Give Details About Their Services, Groups and Initiatives in Fernley:
Christy McGill, Director of Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey: Fernley has its own Stand Tall teen leadership team to prevent alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, and the nonprofit Fernley Community Thrift Store as well as a regional Coalition that advocates for regional issues that affect Fernley.
Tamie MacDonald, Assistant Director of Lyon County Human Services: Increased funding for many programs has come to Fernley.
Jessica Cutts, Coordinator for Fernley Circles: Circles is a community-based initiative to bring people together to help lift families out of poverty. Unlike traditional government assistance programs, Circles focuses on building relationships to create a support system for struggling families. Through their participation, families gain the knowledge, skills, and support to make a difference in their lives.
Cheryl Bowles, Director for Fernley Mental Health: Fernley has new mental health offices with free mental health services
Ian Curley, Director of Lyon Council on Alcohol and Other Drugs: Fernley has sliding fee scale counseling, intervention services and prevention programs
